I've been directly employing staff for my son Isaac now for over 5 years. It took me ages to get it right and I made lots of mistakes along the way. I want to save you that trouble.
But before I do....
There are a few important things you need to know first.
Especially if you're wondering if directly employing your own staff is the way to go.
An employee is a person who works in the service of another under a contract of hire where the employer (that's you) has the right to control the details of work performance.
When you hire an employee, you get the advantage of being able to completely control and direct that person's work during work time, to train the person in the way you want the job done, and to require that person to work only for you.
But as an employer you need to comply with Federal and State laws and that can be a little scary if you've never been an employer before.
